Forget Fear

Ever asked yourself what exactly  is the benefit of working on a project which in your  own  modest opinion  is the best thing you have done so far. then finally  decide,  to file it under ” finished projects that will never see the light of the day ” simply because you decided so? Anyone doing this must be out of his mind , i agree. But what if the benefit is peace of mind, a priceless commodity? then you would think twice. And I though once, twice and way more than three times. I am referring here to the work  I mentioned in my previous post and which I promised to share with you.   As you have guessed  I changed my mind , and no it’s not an April Fool’s  prank . I am willingly sabotaging my own work. I will move on ,forget it and trash it directly to the bin.Terribly sorry for talking in riddles here , It’s not that I intentionally want to  tease my readers but I  am better off not saying more about it. So why share this in the first place? Just because it is a very hard decision to take and so by sharing it, it would make it easier for me to accept it. But then after having written this  post, and just before hitting the publish button,I remembered “Forget Fear” the title of one of the 7th Berlin Biennale’s project. And forgetting fear is exactly what I needed to do. There must be a way to say what I need to say in that 3 min video without compromising my peace of mind! I just need to edit it slightly ,and then I’ll be ready to share it with you. Now on a much lighter note ,check my submission for Talenthouse’s SIGG bottle design invite, which  I couldn’t resist : http://www.talenthouse.com/creativeinvites/preview/a412d6e8672cbdb0f5a450d5a2a6692d/446

Morning Parade

Hello Facebook, hello friends!! Good morning sunshine !!And Morning Parade!!! Adios Hermit mode:)  I decided to give Facebook and Twitter another try . I also decided I should be more active on my blog.

We have been blessed this year in London, and it’s been  sunny almost every day. And  with all the lights and shadows and reflections , I was in creative mode , which explains my long silence. So , what have I been doing lately? some serious heavy stuff, which i will share with you soon.

But for now I’ll invite you to check my latest video creation for the following invite on Talenthouse:

“To celebrate the release of their single ‘Headlights’, Morning Parade, together with Oliver Hammerton, EMI Video Commissioner, are inviting artists to create the official music video for the track “Headlights”, which should be in line with the uplifting vibe and energy of their music and should take inspiration from the multitude of provided Morning Parade videos and imagery.”

Disturbing realities

I just discovered an unpublished post which I have written a while ago. Better late than never, so here it goes.

I  was in NY recently and learned  2 very disturbing realities in one night:

The first one comes from a trusted source  and is about the secret for making it in the art world regardless of talent! Befriend   someone on the board of a big museum, and have that member donate one of your art pieces !!!automatically you ll belong to the list of successful artists  recognized internationally for your “awesome talent”!! Isn’t that disgusting??

A few minutes later, i learned that Steve Jobs  is in Sky  mode :(

What is he doing up there, i wondered. Was he working on an iHeaven app  that will eradicate all negative vibs on the planet, or ,an  iPeace app that will spread eternal  peace on planet earth.

One thing is sure iCloud has his heavenly presence and closer blessings !!

To end on a happier note , i had the chance to go to MOMA , and have long walks in central park, soho and time square in just one very bright sunny day and it was awesome!!

Oh and i had dinner in an italian restaurant where a huge insignificant mural was covering one of the walls. I won’t mention names but the waiter said it is worth 6 million dollars!!! I did some quick research ,and it seems his paintings have been acquired by most of the big museums, and I can

understand that .Some of his work (definitely not the mural!!!!!  )is very sensitive .It  has the freshness and spontaneity  and sincerity of kids’a art which to me is one of the best art in the world .

But his main concern seems to be more about the process of creation of an art piece(technique, texture, harmony ,color…) , than about it’s meaning and  this surprised me a bit . I was under the impression that museums curators and  galleries and collectors where  all after conceptual art . So I got it wrong? ,,, aesthetics seem to  be still valued regardless of concept…I really thought this would apply more to a Matisse or Gauguin but not to modern pieces for living artists. Obviously I was wrong .Reality is ,if an art work  strikes a chord  for some reason ,and the collector falls deeply in love with it,whether the piece is old new , based on concept aesthetic or both …

then this can drive the price to stratospheric levels…pure economics ,supply and demand .

Having said that I still don’t understand how a mural especially this mural was selling at 6 million dollars… The tulip bubble bursted as I am sure the art bubble will too!

Something is definitely wrong with the whole world it seems , no wonder people  have been demonstrating everywhere, even on wall street!!

Back from New York , I wasn’t able to paint for some reason… I have done a few drawings and I designed a dress for the Issa competition ,,,but that’s it! I’ve been very unproductive and I am almost sure the  general dissatisfaction we are all witnessing on our screens is contagious…..  So what else have I been doing that  is worth mentioning here? Ted Talks! I have been listening to so many of them , I just feel like I am catching up with the world…everything is changing and moving at such an incredible rate.

Science, technology, art, medicine…

And here is Béatrice Coron ’s talk which I’d like to share with you:

Goodbye Twitter ,farewell Facebook!!

What a relief ! I just deactivated both my Twitter and Facebook accounts. Am I in hermit mode?? maybe , but the main reason is both accounts have been compromised so many times for the past week that I just lost interest in being on any social media for now .

I luv LA dress by @piixy

Another competition I couldn’t resist participating in!  I enjoyed so much designing this dress, although it was a last minute job , am sure you can tell by the roughness of the design .

A print dress for a competition lauched  by Issa on Talenhouse.
